Membership in retirement

Any AAPA member who has been a member for 25 years and who satisfies the AAPA Council he or she is permanently retired from practice or employment may apply to join the register of retired members. Transfer to the register of retired members requires one final payment, or commutation fee, which is £181 in 2009. Thereafter, no further subscriptions or fees need be paid for life.

Members on the register receive the AAPA Annual Report & Accounts and Annual General Meeting papers but no other material. Members on the register may not hold practising or auditing certificates: any member on the register must resume paying the annual subscription if he or she wishes to return to practice or make use of other services/facilities.

The Benevolent Fund

The Chartered Certified Accountants' Benevolent Fund (CCABF) was established to assist ACCA members and their dependants experiencing severe financial difficulties. In view of the fact that AAPA does not have its own benevolent scheme, CCABF's Board of Management has now agreed to extend the ACCA scheme to cover AAPA members and their dependants in severe financial difficulty.

CCABF relies on members' donations in order to maintain the support it provides. Any AAPA member wishing to find out more about the Benevolent Fund or to make a contribution should write to the Secretary of the Benevolent Fund at ACCA, 64 Finnieston Square, Glasgow G3 8DT.
