Annual subscription
The AAPA annual subscription is now set at the same level as that for ACCA members (£181 in 2009) and is payable on 1 January.
Subscription demands are sent to all members in November, except for those members in the UK who have opted to pay by direct debit who are sent notice of the amount due.
Payment may be made via the internet by Visa (including Delta and Electron), MasterCard, American Express or Switch (including Solo). For full details login to myACCA. Members may also post or fax their card details on the remittance form provided with the annual subscription notification. A crossed sterling cheque made payable to "The Association of Authorised Public Accountants" is also acceptable. A member's AAPA membership number should be clearly written on the front of any cheque.
Payment can also be made by direct debit or home banking. Payment by direct debit avoids the difficulties that can occur when subscription notifications are mislaid or overlooked. It ensures that payment is made on time and for the correct amount.
Members with UK internet or telephone-based bank accounts that offer automated bill payment facilities, can make payments directly to ACCA's account at Barclay's Bank (account number: 40779938, sort code 20–33–70). If using this method, members must quote their membership number as the reference. Please note that this account must not be used, in any circumstances, for over-the-counter payments (Bank Giro Credits) or other forms of payment. Attempting to do so may well result in your payment not reaching your account.
Members resident outside the UK may pay their subscriptions by sterling bank draft drawn on a UK bank or through Girobank (where available). Your membership number should be written on the front of your bank draft or British postal order.
In countries where foreign exchange controls are in force, members are recommended to present subscription notifications to their banks. Where payment is likely to be delayed by exchange controls, proof of local payment should be forwarded to ACCA.
Forfeiture of membership through non-payment
Any member who fails to pay his or her subscription three months from the date on which it became due may lose his or her membership, save that this shall not apply in respect of members subject to the disciplinary procedures.
Any member who loses his or her membership in this way may be reinstated on payment of the outstanding sum and a reinstatement fee (£42 in 2009). An applicant for reinstatement must, at the time of the application, meet the membership admission criteria detailed above.
