Our governance

Council

Council is the sole governing body of ACCA and therefore has a key role in ACCA affairs. Its fundamental purpose is to ensure that ACCA delivers the objectives stated in the Royal Charter. Council's terms of reference highlight its responsibility for determining ACCA's strategic policy objectives and for monitoring the organisation's performance in relation to the strategic plan and annual budget.

Council has 36 members, all of whom are currently elected by the global membership. Following the latest elections, which closed on 14 May 2009, Council now has members from 14 different countries, truly reflecting the diversity of ACCA and its members.

Council held its Annual Meeting immediately after the AGM on 21 May. At that meeting, the new Officer team was elected, as follows:
