11 Jul 2007
ACCA and the Chartered Insurance Institute (CII) have signed an agreement to extend and enhance the benefits available to both bodies' global membership.
ACCA will offer its members the opportunity to also become a member of the CII - the professional body for the insurance industry in the UK and internationally - for a reduced subscription fee.
ACCA members who join the CII will be able to access regular technical support concerning insurance and financial services industry related issues, plus regular networking opportunities from training workshops to on-line learning and knowledge provision.
Clare Minchington, managing director - education, learning & development at ACCA, said: 'CPD is very important to us as a membership body and we work hard to ensure our members are supported in their need to advance their professional competence requirements. It is vital for our members to be up-to-date about the regulatory environment in which they work, and this agreement with CII will help them in this goal.
'Extending our global reputation through partnerships has been a particular success for ACCA. Building relationships with organisations such as the Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA), based in Florida, USA, and the Securities & Investment Institute (SII) prove popular and beneficial to our members; similarly, this agreement with CII will bring benefits to our members, increasing numbers of which are working in insurance related industries around the world.'
CII sales and marketing director Lee Gladwell said: 'I am pleased to announce this development which brings us closer to the accountancy profession. In recent weeks we have launched our own initiative to encourage financial planners and insurance intermediaries to apply for chartered status.
'This partnership with ACCA will enhance the CII membership worldwide, where we have a strong presence through our offices in Dubai, Singapore and India. I believe professional bodies like the CII and ACCA have a major role to play in establishing global standards in the financial services sector.'
The specific benefits for ACCA members who join the CII include:
- regular technical and regulatory e-mails about changes within the industry and to ensure knowledge is up to date
- access to master classes, delivering market sector information and guidance ensuring you maintain your competence and retain your competitive edg
