ACCA Regulatory Board launched

Key development in ACCA's governance arrangements

16 Dec 2008

ACCA has recently launched its Regulatory Board, which will oversee work in licensing practitioners, setting standards, monitoring firms of accountants, fulfilling lead regulator requirements and investigating complaints.

Peter Large, ACCA executive director – governance, said: 'Placing oversight of regulation and discipline "arm's length" from the governance of ACCA's other activities helps to reassure stakeholders that ACCA's arrangements are operated impartially, with integrity and in the public interest. The advent of the Regulatory Board keeps ACCA at the pinnacle of best practice in regulatory and disciplinary governance.'

The Regulatory Board comprises three members of Council and seven independent 'lay' appointees – non-accountants – one of whom is the lay chairman, Katrina Wingfield of Penningtons Solicitors.
