ACCA head of SME affairs appointed to EFRAG Supervisory Board

Supporting Europe's migration to IFRS

19 Jun 2009

Professor Robin Jarvis, ACCA head of SME affairs, has been appointed as a member of the European Financial Reporting Advisory Group's (EFRAG) new Supervisory Board.

The new board oversees the work of an enhanced European Financial Reporting Advisory Group (EFRAG), which was established in 2001. EFRAG's main task is to advise the European Commission on the acceptability of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) for endorsement and use in Europe in the consolidated accounts of all listed companies. It also provides pro-active advice to the International Accounting Standards Board (IASB).

'The additional resources in the enhanced EFRAG structure is an important element in the development of International Accounting Standards across Europe, which should provide many benefits to the European economies,' said Professor Jarvis. 'In the enhanced EFRAG structure, SMEs are formally recognised for the first time, which reflects their growing contribution to the European economy.'
