Have you made your CPD declaration?
Your annual CPD declaration for 2009 must be submitted to ACCA by 1 January 2010
The easiest and fastest way to declare is online by visiting www.accaglobal.com and logging into your myACCA e-business account - over 60% of members are already using this method. Alternatively, you can complete the paper declaration form which will be sent to you with your annual membership subscription in November.
So if you are following one of the unit routes and have already successfully achieved your units or you work for an ACCA Approved Employer - professional development, make your declaration online today and then relax in the knowledge that your CPD is up to date. If you are following the other IFAC body route, you can make your declaration once you have met your other body's CPD requirements.
Evidence and waivers
You do not need to send in supporting evidence with your annual CPD declaration. However, you should keep your CPD evidence safe for three years in case you are selected for a CPD activity review.
If you have applied for a CPD waiver in 2009, don't forget that you will still need to submit a declaration.
Option B
The annual CPD declaration allows you to state not only if you have completed your CPD, but also if you have not. It should be stressed that CPD is a membership requirement: if you indicate that you did not meet the requirement, by selecting Option B on the form, you will be contacted by ACCA who will support you in making up your CPD shortfall. Once this has been done, you will then be required to complete a replacement CPD declaration for 2009, this time selecting Option A. This new declaration will act as confirmation that you no longer have a CPD shortfall.
Still to complete your CPD activity?
Although the end of the year is a matter of weeks away, there is still time to complete your CPD if you have not already done so. First of all, consider the learning activity you have already completed through 2009 - there is a high chance that learning at work, for example, can contribute to your CPD, meaning you have already met the requirement without realising it. Alternatively, here are some CPD ideas to support you:
- www.accaglobal.com/members/cpd to access a wide range of learning opportunities including how activity you undertake at work could count towards your CPD requirement
- www.accaglobal.com/elearning to access resources including ACCA's Virtual Learning Centre (VLC) and BPP and Harvard Business Publishing e-learning courses
- www.accaglobal.com/podcasts/members to find podcasts on current issues facing the profession
- http://discuss.accaglobal.com to take part in discussion boards with ACCA members
- http://tv.accaglobal.com to view interactive broadcasts and technical presentations which can contribute to your CPD
- www.accaglobal.com/network to access your local office website and discover what face to face opportunities might be available to you.
