Adding value to business in a dynamic and challenging global environment
New ACCA report reveals best practice planning for finance professionals
13 Oct 2009
In line with ACCA's theme for 2009-2010, the latest report in the Insight series on Accountants for Business considers how accountants add value to business. It uses the 'finance function' as the basis of a case study to demonstrate the role professional accountants play and identifies the differentiators between the good and the great.
The report provides the latest account of the impact of the economic conditions on finance functions and the role of accountants. Specifically, it identifies five areas - the Five Domains of Finance - in which accountants contribute to organisations. These are:
- strategy
- analysis
- operations
- custodial, and
- regulation.
The report's findings offer an insight into the functions and skills organisations value most from their finance professionals - knowledge that could prove most helpful when planning your professional development and next career move.
Applying the report's findings practically in your current role could also count as verifiable CPD, should you be able to provide the necessary evidence.
