ACCA Simpson Scholarship 2009

Winners announced

12 Aug 2009

The ACCA Simpson Scholarship winners for 2009 have been announced.

June Waithira Kiarie and Leonard Kiogora from Kenya, Sehrish Hussain Khan from Pakistan, Li Yan from Singapore, and Lucy Langdon from the UK were selected by a specially convened judging panel to have their ACCA exam and subscription fees paid for over the next five years or until they achieve full membership.

As an added bonus, they will also receive a complete set of learning materials from ACCA's official publishers, BPP Learning Media and Kaplan Publishing.

To be eligible to apply for the scholarship, applicants must have achieved excellent results in their ACCA exams to date, and had to submit a 1,000-word essay on 'How the award of a scholarship will help me to realise my full potential'.

'The students who have been successful in gaining the scholarship reflect ACCA's core values in their approach to study and all have clearly demonstrated in their submissions that they understand the broader role of accountants in business and society,' said Neil Stevenson, ACCA executive director - brand, one of the panel judges.

'In many cases, they have not only had to overcome obstacles in their lives, but they are also striving to help others achieve their aims and are determined to give something back to their communities. Making the decision about which students should receive the scholarship this year was incredibly difficult, but the five students we have chosen are truly inspirational and we know they will make very good use of the scholarship.'
