The global body for professional accountants

Philip Colgate, FCCA New Zealand

Philip joined a London firm of chartered accountants in 1968 straight from school as a trainee certified accountant, taking advantage of ACCA's open door policy. He qualified and was then admitted as a member in May 1976.

He had worked in various accounting firms ranging from sole practitioners to top-20 firms before establishing his own firm in 1986, providing a broad range of services for an equally broad range of clients until 2005.

Philip relocated to Christchurch in 2005, working for a sole practitioner for two years and gaining valuable experience in New Zealand tax and law, then moved on to the accountancy services department of foodstuffs.

In 2010, Philip retired and now devotes his time to running a small boutique vineyard.

Philip has worked hard to establish an ACCA member network in Christchurch and has taken on the role of inviting quality speakers to present on a range of topics. Not only has this provided a great opportunity for our local members to connect and network with their peers, but it is also helping to build the ACCA brand recognition locally, which is a great foundation for the future.
