ACCA - The global body for professional accountants

OVERVIEW

Invented by Osborne, brainstorming is an incredibly efficient technique for problem-solving and finding solutions in groups. It consists of eliciting ideas from participants by freeing them from all constraints and by seeking only to maximise the number of ideas put forward. Although it seems simple, this method has many pitfalls. This session explains what you need to know using a video demonstration and a number of concrete examples.

By the end of the course, you will gain an understanding of:

  • the principles of brainstorming
  • why brainstorming is an effective method
  • the main pitfalls to avoid when brainstorming
