Benefits and resources

The benefits of exemption accreditation

Accreditation of your programmes ensures that students registering with ACCA will receive a level of exemption which matches the knowledge and skills gained from their previous qualifications.

Your students will benefit from knowing which module choices will lead to maximum exemption from ACCA's examinations, and will be assured of receiving the appropriate level of exemption immediately upon registration with ACCA.

Your institution and programme will be listed on our Exemptions calculator to inform students of the possible exemptions they can gain. You will also benefit from receiving an ACCA Accredited programme logo and certificate which you can display.

Exemption Accreditation Resources

ACCA’s accreditation handbook is primarily intended as a source of information for course leaders of educational programmes for which accreditation is already held, or is being sought.

It may also provide useful information for other parties, such as departmental heads, student advisers, and anyone with an interest in ACCA’s accreditation and exemption guidelines.

The accreditation handbook provides all of the information and guidance you need to make an accreditation application, including:

  • syllabus coverage
  • review of programme assessments
  • comparability of examinations
  • how to make an application
  • supporting documentation

Also prior to making an application you should review ACCA’s syllabus and past papers to ensure that your institutions syllabus is relevant and examinations have the same format as ACCA’s these can be viewed using our Exam resources finder tool

Lastly you may wish to review our A Practical Guide to Writing Assessments document. It is a key document for writing ACCA exams and meeting ACCA’s exemption accreditation criteria.

It gives the background to understand various elements that you need to consider when writing your own assessments. It also has information on the intellectual levels relevant to ACCA exams. Finally gives guidance around what the criteria mean from a practical perspective, including examples of questions.
