ACCA opened offices in Shanghai and Beijing
ACCA established representative offices in Shanghai and Beijing in March and May respectively.

Variant papers introduced
Variant papers on Chinese Business Law and Chinese Tax were made available for the first time in order to enhance the relevance of the ACCA Qualification to local business and professionals.

First ACCA training centre

The training centre of CNAO started to offer ACCA training programme for its internal audit professionals.  It was the first ACCA training centre in mainland China.

By the end of 1998, there were 160 ACCA members and 1,950 ACCA students in mainland China.

The first National Accounting Institute was established in Beijing in July 1998, followed by Shanghai and Xiamen in September 2000 and January 2002 respectively.
