ACCA award presentation
A prestigious award presentation ceremony was held in March. ACCA president Christopher Forster awarded the ‘ACCA President’s Global Award for Achievement in the Accountancy Profession’ to Li Jinhua, former Auditor General of the National Audit Office of China.

Training for Trainers programme
ACCA and CICPA co-organised the first Training for Trainers programme
for university lecturers from universities which offer CICPA specialisation degree courses. Up to the third year of the programme organised in July 2008, a total of 82 university lecturers were trained.     

Joint seminars
Two joint seminars with the State Assets Supervision and Administration Commission (SASAC) on IFRS/lAS and China’s new accounting standards were held in Beijing in April and November.

ACCA Career Day
ACCA’s first Career Day was successfully organised in Beijing in November. The event attracted 27 employer exhibitors and more than 1,600 candidates.

The new Chinese accounting and auditing standards were adopted by the MoF in February based on International Accounting Standards. This development reinforced China’s importance to the global economy and international business.
