Undertaking continuing professional development (CPD) helps ACCA members develop and maintain the knowledge and skills needed to succeed in today's dynamic and demanding business environment.
To ensure that ACCA members deliver a consistently high performance for their employers, we have developed a leading-edge CPD scheme. This scheme fully meets the CPD Standard (IES 7) released by the International Federation of Accountants (IFAC) of which ACCA is a member.
The scheme recognises that members need practical options for achieving CPD and offers four different CPD routes:
- Unit route: for those who are planning and organising their own CPD.
- Unit route: part-time or semi-retired
- Employer route: for those who work for an organisation which is an ACCA Approved Employer - professional development.
- IFAC body route: for an ACCA member that also belongs to another IFAC-member body and chooses to follow that body's CPD scheme.
No matter which route is chosen, members are required to complete an annual CPD declaration by 1 January each year and need to keep evidence of CPD that is consistent with the route followed.
The benefits of becoming an Approved Employer – professional development
We recognise that many employers provide learning and development programmes for their staff.
If your organisation becomes an ACCA Approved Employer - professional development, ACCA members that you employ can achieve their CPD through your organisation's development programme and are not required to follow the unit CPD route. (However, members are still required to complete an annual CPD declaration.)
