Technical Seminar: Update on Recent Company Law and Contract Law Developments

The Companies Act itself has featured various legislative amendments incorporating the Company Legislation and Regulatory Framework Committee recommendations.

Landmark judgments have been delivered by our Singapore Court of Appeal in recent times: JSI Shipping (S) Pte Ltd v Teofoongwonglcloong [2007] 4 SLR 460, PlanAssure PAC v Gaelic Inns Pte Ltd [2007] 4 SLR 513, Chwee Kin Keong and Ors v Digilandmall.com Pte Ltd [2005] 1 SLR 502, Ting Sing Ning (alias Malcolm Ding) v Ting Chek Swee alias Ting Chik Sui and Ors [2008] 1 SLR 197 to name a few decisions.

This seminar will recapitulate some of the recent leading cases and Companies Act (Amendments) as well as the legal and practical implications of the same. There will be time for questions and interactive discussions to address specific practical factual scenarios arising out of these recent company law and contract law updates.
