Roger Nightingale was educated first at Keele University, and then at University College London. On leaving academic life, he worked for twenty years for Hoare Govett (at the time, London’s premier Investment Bank); starting as a research economist and ending as a member of the main board. In 1988, he set up an independent consultancy (serving investment clients all round the world). He is a non-executive director of a number of companies, and a consultant to a variety of investment institutions (British Airways Pension Fund, Singer & Friedlander, Bedlam Asset Management, Royal London Insurance, Bank Sarasin, Highway Insurance and Family Assurance in this country; the Government of Singapore, a few Insurance companies in Japan and a collection of Fund Managers in the States). More recently he has been working closely with London and Capital and Pointon York. He has fairly close connections with the financial media, making frequent appearances on TV networks (CNBC, Bloomberg, CNN, Sky and BBC). He also writes articles for a number of newspapers, periodicals and “in-house” magazines. Roger’s “talking” career began as a by-product of his broking research in the eighties. Twice a year, he’d present his investment outlook to clients at an afternoon seminar. The sessions proved to be quite popular. Before long, he’d become a regular contributor to the “conference circuit.” And he was being asked also to be the after-dinner speaker at a number of corporate events. On average, he speaks at about 15-20 conferences or dinners a year. |
