Pakistan - October 2007
The ACCA Pakistan organized a seminar to launch the ACCA new qualification - professionalism and ethics at the Pakistan Air Force Museum in Karachi . The Chief Guest of the event was Dr. Hameeda Khuhro, Education Minister - Sindh. The seminar was attended by around 200 guests including ACCA members, affiliates and some students, ACCA approved employers and partners and some journalists.
Prior to the seminar, all the speakers and guests had a tour of the PAF Museum and learnt about the history of the Pakistan Air Force and also saw the aircraft used by the founder of Pakistan , Mohammed Ali Jinnah.
ACCA Chief Executive, Allen Blewitt introduced the new qualification and emphasized on ethics in the accounting and finance profession. He said that much of this effort was spurred by the knowledge that the absence of ethics had recently caused the downfall of several big firms.
Head of ACCA Pakistan, Arif Masud Mirza said that professionalism and ethics is a journey for the students to becoming an ACCA member and during this journey students come across teachers, members and employers who help them learn professional attitude and ethical values.
Under the headline theme of professionalism and ethics, Dr. Hameeda Khuhro spoke on Education and Governance, Imran Aslam - CEO of GEO Television Network spoke on Media and Journalism, Durriya Kazi - Head of Visual Studies, University of Karachi spoke on Arts and Majid Khan - former Cricketer and Ex-CEO of the Pakistan Cricket Board spoke on Sports.
The event concluded with a glitzy cake-cutting ceremony to mark the birth of the ACCA new qualification, which was followed by a press conference and dinner.
