On 19 March 2013, EU Commissioner for Internal Market and Services, Michel Barnier, appointed Mr Philippe Maystadt as Special Adviser to reinforce the EU's contribution to International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS), and to improve the governance of the current EU structures in the field of financial reporting and accounting - the European Financial Reporting Advisory Group (EFRAG) and the Accounting Regulatory Committee (ARC).
Mr Maystadt is expected to present his final recommendations at the ECOFIN Council meeting of 15 November 2013.
FEE (the Federation of European Accountants) and ACCA (the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants) are therefore delighted to jointly organise a roundtable hosted by Mr Wolf Klinz, MEP to debate how to ensure EU influence over global financial reporting standards. This event will be an opportunity for Mr Maystadt to present his findings to EU stakeholders and to discuss how they might be progressed.
A panel of experts and the audience will debate issues such as how European influence is best ensured and revising EFRAG as the recommended option to ensure EU influence.
