ACCA - The global body for professional accountants

The Association of Corporate Treasurers (ACT) is the leading professional body for international treasury providing the widest scope of benchmark qualifications for those working in treasury, risk and corporate finance.

ACCA and the ACT have signed an agreement extending the existing mutual co-operation between both organisations to benefit ACCA's global membership. The agreement enables ACCA members worldwide to access the fast-track exemption programme to gain the ACT's AMCT Diploma in Treasury, which is the benchmark of technical treasury competency.

AMCT Diploma in Treasury

Benefits to ACCA members The scheme recognises equivalences in content between the ACCA qualification and AMCT leading to reduced study content and a shorter final exam. ACCA members also benefit from a reduced course fee for CertITM, the compulsory stage 2 module. The AMCT Diploma is made up of three stages:

  • Stage 1 - Certificate in Financial Fundamentals for Business (CertFin)
  • Stage 2 - Certificate in International Treasury Management (CertITM)
  • Stage 3 - any two certificates from:
    • Certificate in Corporate Finance and Funding (CertCFF)
    • Certificate in Risk Management (CertRM)
    • Certificate in Financial Maths and Modelling (CertFMM)
    • Certificate in International Cash Management (CertICM).

All ACCA members are automatically exempt from the AMCT Stage 1 Certificate in Financial Fundamentals for Business. In order to gain the ACMT qualification, members will therefore only be required to sit stage 2 and two elective certificates at stage 3.

Additionally at stage 3, members who want to take the Certificate of Corporate Finance and Funding as one of the electives can take a shorter exam provided they have passed one of the following papers:

  • Paper 14 Financial Strategy
  • Paper 3.7 Strategic Financial Management
  • Paper P4 Advanced Financial Management

By selecting this option as one of their electives, members can benefit fully from the AMCT Fast-Track route which will reduce the amount of study required to gain this qualification.

Members may also sit individual ACT certificates on a modular basis and still benefit from the fast track process if they wish to go on to achieve the AMCT Diploma.

CertITM is a six-month qualification that provides a broad, practical understanding the principles and techniques of international treasury management - from cash and liquidity to funding and financial risk management. It is relevant to anyone who needs a core understanding of treasury in either a corporate or financial institution.

CertITM will enable you to

- Understand the principles and techniques of international treasury management - Develop the core knowledge, technical and practical skills required for a role in treasury, risk or corporate finance - Gain a certified qualification from an internationally-recognised provider of treasury

CertITM is a distance learning programme that combines self study with tutor support. All study materials are delivered online through the course website. A dedicated course tutor is available to answer questions, help you solve problems and offer advice through the online course forum. This gives you regular interaction with both the course tutor and other students and helps guide you through your studies.
