Today, the Ghanaian firm is still setting the standard of excellence in the industry under the leadership of the country managing partner, who is supported by two partners and over 90 professional staff.
When asked whether ACCA trainees and members help Deloitte Ghana to achieve its goals, managing partner Felix Nana Sackey gets straight to the point: ‘Enormously. The senior partner is an ACCA member – so am I – and about 80 per cent of our professionals are ACCA members in managerial positions with experience and expertise in providing value-added solutions to our clients.’
With so many qualified finance professionals, how does Deloitte nurture this asset? ‘It is Deloitte’s policy to support the training of our people to become qualified accountants and professionals with very high standards of integrity,’ explains Felix. To do this the firm meets all costs necessary for the development of their staff such as tuition and exam fees and provides a wide range of training opportunities – from in-house to international. ACCA also has a part to play in this development programme with Deloitte staff regularly attending ACCA seminars and the firm also getting involved in ACCA training programmes by sharing resources.
So what lies ahead? ‘It is our strategy to continue engaging the best ACCA professionals for the objectives of Deloitte Ghana to be achieved,’ states Felix. ‘It is a professional accountancy qualification which benefits from global recognition and opens doors to successful careers in accountancy and finance’.
