During the first half of the day we will be discussing the direction of financial reporting by public sector organisations around the world, with topics including:
• international public sector accounting standards developments; and
• the recent European Commission announcement on introducing European Public Sector Accounting Standards (EPSASs) for Member States.
We will also be discussing new initiatives such as:
• quality accounts in health
• integrated reporting
• big data.
All developments are aimed at improving accountability and transparency.
The second half of the day will focus on re-building public trust through improved financial reporting and information.
Many governments are pursuing policies to increase accountability and transparency by making data more widely available. Yet despite these improvements we know from surveys and opinion polls that governments are often less trusted than business.
Panellists will give their views on whether or not more open and transparent financial information leads to better governance and trust in public services.
As usual we have an excellent line-up of speakers from organisations such as:
• The World Bank
• The European Commission
• Edelman Berland.
A full timetable for the conference can be found below on the related documents tab.
This event is now fully booked. However please note that the event will be filmed, with the footage being made available to view on the ACCA website the following week.
