Prior to his work in consultancy, Martin Turner, who lives near Abergavenny, was Chief Executive for the Health Services in Adelaide, Australia, after having been a Chief Executive in the National Health Service in the UK for more than 19 years. Earlier in his career, he worked as a senior Finance Executive in the Health Service.
During his career, Martin has been responsible for managing a number of mergers and reorganisations within the health sector in the UK and Australia. He has also worked as a consultant in the UK and abroad, including acting as an advisor for the Ministry of Health departments in Jamaica and Lithuania and, more recently, in Iraq and Kazakhstan.
Martin completed the Senior Management Program at Harvard University in 2000 and was a Fellow of the NHS Staff College. As a fellow of the college he led management programmes for executives and senior clinical staff.
He was the founder member and President of the Health Service Society of Certified Accountants. As a Council member for ACCA, Martin has been an active member of a number of its standing committees, including the Market Oversight Committee, the Staff Committee and the Remuneration Committee.
Martin is a very keen sports fan -especially rugby union, and tries to play golf when he finds the time!

I am particularly looking forward to helping to promote the role of ACCA accountants in every sector around the world who are working hard to ensure the organisations they advise can not only ride the current global financial storms but that they are also well placed to take the opportunities provided by any economic recovery.'
Leading accountancy academic Professor Barry J Cooper from Australia was elected President of ACCA (the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants), while ACCA’s new Vice President is Anthony Harbinson, who is Director of Justice Delivery, at the Department of Justice in Northern Ireland.
