Masuzyo Mulenga, an affiliate of ACCA (the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants), has been awarded International Accounting Bulletin’s Young Accountant of the Year award.
The 25-year-old is currently an audit and assurance manager at HLB Reliance, HLB International’s member firm in Zambia. She was recently appointed by the company to help develop strategic growth and leadership both for her firm, and for HLB International in Southern and Eastern Africa.
She won the IAB award because the nomination that was submitted convinced the judges of her dedication and ambition.
Masuzyo said: 'I am greatly honoured and humbled by this award. It is a pleasant surprise to me because I know there are many great accountants out there. Many thanks to International Accounting Bulletin and to HLB International for honouring me in this great way. I would like to also thank Shuko Ndhlobu, my managing partner at HLB Reliance, for believing in me and for his mentorship. And many thanks to HLB Reliance team, this award is for us all. Let’s keep soaring to great heights!'
As an ACCA student, Masuzyo achieved the Best Student in Zambia award in the CAT paper 3 programme in 2006.
