ACCA Singapore has appointed Darryl Wee as its new country head, which will see him responsible for promoting ACCA as the leading accountancy qualification of choice in Singapore, and engaging with key partners to continue raising ACCA's presence and reputation in the country.
Darryl, whose predecessor Penelope Phoon leaves ACCA after seven years to pursue personal interests, brings a wealth of knowledge and experience in marketing, public relations, business development and human resources management.
Prior to joining ACCA, Darryl was chief commercial officer of Nestronics Singapore, where he identified business opportunities that increased revenue and focused on customer satisfaction. He also spent seven years at Agilent Technologies, and was managing consultant at PA Consulting Group, where he oversaw the performance and development of the Singapore Management Development Consultancy team.
Fluent in English and Mandarin, Darryl holds a Masters of Business Administration from Rutgers University in the US, as well as a Masters of Science from South Bank University in London.
'ACCA is a strong and influential global accountancy body and I look forward to enhancing its reputation in this interesting time for the profession,' said Darryl. 'I also look forward to working closely with many important partner organisations and stakeholders, including regulators, employers, professional bodies, learning providers and of course our members and students, to ensure we build an accountancy profession fit for the 21st century.'
Welcoming the appointment, Helen Brand, ACCA chief executive, said: 'I am delighted to welcome Darryl Wee as ACCA Singapore's new country head. I am confident that his enthusiasm and commitment will be of great benefit to ACCA.
'I also want to thank Penelope Phoon for the excellent way in which she has represented ACCA in Singapore, and wish her well for the future.'
