ACCA - The global body for professional accountants

Thursday 26 April, 2.30pm-5.30pm (followed by a cocktail reception): European Parliament, Josef Antal 6Q1 room, Rue Wiertz 60, 1047, Brussels

Equity finance is still under-used by small and medium sized businesses (SMEs) across Europe. With the tightening bank lending environment and the reliance of the European economic recovery on the innovative, high growth firms; improving the SME access to equity finance will be crucial in ensuring European long-term competitiveness.

A roundtable event, organised by the SME Union of the EPP, with UAPME, ACCA and EFAA, aims to open up the dialogue between the investors, SMEs, accounting and other professionals to explore the current state of play of private equity finance in Europe. It will discuss the role of intermediaries in equity funding, the scope for future development for accounting and other professionals towards acting as more active intermediaries, taking into account the needs of small firms for more effective business support in this area.
