Ed McKeever wins gold for Team GB

ACCA (the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants) student Ed McKeever won gold in the K1 200m kayak sprint at Eton Dorney on 11 August.

Ed dominated his heats, semi-finals and ultimately the final to help Team GB to its best Olympic performance in more than 100 years.

Andrew Leck, head of ACCA UK said: 'I would like to congratulate Ed on his victory on behalf of everyone at ACCA. The Olympics has captured the imagination of the country, and Ed is certainly a role model that can inspire young people with the determination and commitment to be able to combine his studies with training and competing on the world stage.

'The flexibility of ACCA’s qualification has allowed Ed to continue his studies while training and competing. He is a credit to ACCA and I am sure he will be a highly successful accountant.'

Ed has completed the fundamental papers and has four exams left to complete the qualification. For the past three years Ed has been blogging about combining studying and competing, visit the 'ACCA Blog' page, which can be accessed via the 'Related Links' section, left of this article, for more information.
