Experienced auditor Abdulwahid Aboo has been appointed as a member of the Global Forum for Audit and Assurance at ACCA (the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants).
Abdulwahid is currently managing partner of AAC Kenya, part of the Russell Bedford International network of firms. AAC Kenya was set up in 1980 as Abdulwahid Aboo & Company.
Mr Aboo gained the ACCA qualification in 1977 and is now a Fellow of the global body for professional accountants. He was a member of National Council of ICPSK (Institute of Certified Public Secretaries in Kenya) and ICPAK (Institute of Certified Public Accountants in Kenya) for three years and seven years respectively. Through ICPAK, Mr Aboo also sits on the Governing Council of KCA University and is also Chairman of the university’s finance committee.
On the global stage, Mr Aboo became a member of the International Federation of Accountants’ Small and Medium Practices (SMP) Committee in January 2012.
Mr Aboo said: 'I am pleased to be appointed to the global forum where I am sure I will have the opportunity to share my knowledge of the auditing world and the accountancy profession – not just in Kenya and Africa, but on a worldwide basis too.'
Robert Stenhouse, ACCA’s chair of the Audit and Assurance Global Forum, said: 'This is an important appointment, and comes at a time when audit is front of the minds for both regulators and the profession. It is great to have Abdulwahid on board. With his many years of experience in this field, and his commitment to the profession, I have no doubt he will be a valuable asset to the global forum. He is our third forum member from Africa and demonstrates ACCA’s commitment to have a forum with members from every continent that provides unique global insights.'
