Two Memoranda of Understanding (MOUs) have been signed for the benefit of students in Kazakhstan

Two new agreements have been signed by KIMEP University and the Kazakh British Technical University with ACCA (the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants) to work in partnership to develop the accountancy profession in Kazakhstan.

The Memoranda of Understanding (MOUs) will result in the universities and ACCA, the global body for professional accountants, conducting joint workshops, seminars, research, discussion events and conferences; while information about ACCA qualifications will be provided to the universities’ staff and students and information about the universities given to ACCA students and members.

Lucia Real-Martin, ACCA’s director emerging markets-Asia, signed the MOUs with Dr Iskander Beisembetov, rector of the Kazakh-British Technical University, and Dr Martin O’Hara, vice president of academic affairs at KIMEP University.

Lucia Real-Martin said: 'ACCA is delighted to be working with the Kazakh-British Technical and KIMEP universities to support the accountancy profession’s growth in this fast developing country, where world-class qualified finance professionals will increasingly be in demand. Through ACCA’s representative in the market, Ms Altyn Shakirkhanova, ACCA is able to further its support to KBTU and KIMEP in delivering value through these agreements.'

Altyn Shakirkhanova said: 'Working with other organisations is a vital part of ACCA’s strategy and also encompasses one of our core values, that of innovation. Through working with other organisations and people we can come up with, and discuss, fresh ideas to keep the accountancy profession advanced. By working together, we can ensure that together we are training and developing accountants for the future.'

Dr Iskander Beisembetov, of the Kazakh-British Technical University, said: 'The partnership between Kazakh British Technical University and ACCA is a positive factor for the development and support of our graduates in their future professional careers. Cooperation and work on a high international level between our organizations is strategically important, as it allows both parties to contribute to the development of professionals in the area of finance and accounting in Kazakhstan.'

Dr Martin O’Hara, of KIMEP University, said: 'Working together with ACCA, I believe that we can create an expanded vision for developing and sharing the perspectives for accounting and finance professions in Kazakhstan. I believe that this collaboration will produce exceptional results for further training and development of our students as well.'
