ACCA’s global Head of Public Sector appointed to the Guardian’s Public Leaders Network 2014 | ACCA Global
ACCA - The global body for professional accountants
'It’s an honour to be part of this Network. The public sector is an important one for ACCA, which stands for strong public financial management. For us, this means the adoption of efficient budgeting and financial management practices by public sector bodies; the implementation of transparent structures of accountability; effective audit and scrutiny; and good governance for the sector. Ultimately this benefits the tax payer.'
—Gillian Fawcett, head of public sector, ACCA

Gillian Fawcett, head of public sector at the global body for professional accountants ACCA (the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants), has been appointed to the Guardian’s Public Leaders Network editorial advisory board.

The Public Leaders Network is the Guardian's online section for leaders of all public services, with news, insight and analysis across the whole sector at The Guardian.

Jane Dudman, editor of the Network, said of Gillian’s appointment: 'Having a public sector finance expert on the Board is important, especially as we move towards the general election. Public spending and how it is managed is a crucial part of comment and debate, and we only expect the level of debate to increase.'

Gillian Fawcett commented: 'It’s an honour to be part of this Network.

As head of Public Sector for ACCA, Gillian is responsible for developing international policies on technical matters affecting finance professionals in public services.

Before joining ACCA, Gillian was a Senior Fellow working with the Office for Public Management (OPM) in the organisational development and policy team. Gillian is also a member of the Federation of European Accountants (FEE) and the Confederation of Asian and Pacific Accountants (CAPA) public sector committees.
