Job title: CFO China

Organisation details: Henkel operates worldwide with leading brands and technologies in three business areas: laundry and home care, cosmetics and toiletries, and adhesive technologies. Founded in 1876, Henkel holds globally-leading market positions in both consumer and industrial businesses and has well-known brands such as Persil, Schwarzkopf and Loctite.
Henkel, which has its headquarters in Düsseldorf, Germany, has about 50,000 employees worldwide.
The majority of Henkel China's finance work is handled by their centralised operation centre in Shanghai. So who do they target when recruiting finance professionals? Jason Wang, CFO China, explains: ‘We look for candidates who are well-equipped with not only excellent financial and accounting skills but also strong business acumen and the ability to think strategically.’
With clear strategic priorities of delivering better service, higher efficiency and stronger control, the finance team makes continuous efforts to drive for further standardisation, automation and compliance. ACCA trainees and members are playing their part. ‘In my view, the close link between ACCA's study syllabus and practical experience requirements is excellent’, states Wang. ‘ACCA trainees and members are very capable of applying what they have learned to their daily work so as to help our whole organisation’s drive for excellence.’
Henkel China develops its ACCA trainees and members in-house by assigning special projects and offering job rotation programmes, but they also take advantage of ACCA support. Wang explains, ‘By partnering closely with ACCA, we can leverage on their extensive training platform to develop our talent. We have also participated in various professional events held by ACCA for best practice sharing. Quite a few key staff and high potentials in our finance organisation are ACCA members or trainees. Their knowledge and skills can contribute significantly to shape the future of our organisation.’
A talent management programme is also in place at Henkel China to ensure a motivated and competent finance team, and again ACCA plays a supporting role: ‘ACCA's training offerings have become an integral part of our talent development programme,’ confirms Wang. ‘We will continue to tap into ACCA's vast training resources and sponsor our employees to study for the ACCA Qualification or other qualifications offered by ACCA.’
The final word goes to Wang: ‘ACCA offers one of the most practical and comprehensive accounting qualification programmes I have seen. It equips the members with the right skillset and mindset to tackle their daily professional challenges.’
