For over 20 years ACCA has been a leading voice in promoting environmental, social and governance (ESG) reporting for businesses as an integral part of mapping their impacts beyond traditional financial accounting practices. We believe that accountants and finance professionals must play an active role in providing viable solutions to our global sustainability challenges including increased global heating and rapid loss of natural capital. Our efforts have been recognised, among others, by being awarded the prestigious Queen’s Award for Sustainable Development.
To keep abreast of sustainability developments, we actively participate in a number projects led by influential organisations, including the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI), International Integrated Reporting Council and Climate Disclosure Standards Board. We are involved in the sustainability reporting initiatives at the United Nations Earth Summit (Rio+20), which includes the conference. This includes the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Coalition and the Natural Capital Declaration. We also held a sustainability themed Global Virtual Conference last October which had over 10,000 registrants.
