Doctor of Philosophy conferred by Amity University

Helen Brand OBE, chief executive of ACCA (the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants), the global body for professional accountants, has been awarded an Honorary Doctorate (Honoris Causa) by Amity University Uttar Pradesh, India. 

Ms Brand was honoured with an Honorary Doctorate Degree in Doctor of Philosophy at the University’s graduation ceremony on 12 December 2012. 

The award was bestowed on Ms Brand by the management and senior academicians from the University: Dr. Ashok K Chauhan, Founder President, Amity Group; Dr. (Mrs.) Amita Chauhan, Chairperson, Amity International Schools; Mr. Atul Chauhan- Chancellor Amity University UP, Mr. Aseem Chauhan - Chancellor, Amity University, Rajasthan; Maj Gen K J Singh - Group vice Chancellor, Amity Universities and Dr. D V Singh - Visitor, Amity University.

Commenting on her degree, Helen Brand, said: 'Receiving this degree was a very real privilege for me. I was extremely pleased to be at the University’s graduation ceremony, where I had the pleasure to address the graduates and explain why this honorary degree matters to me.

'As chief executive of ACCA, I am passionate about life-long learning and the benefits that education and training can bring.'

Mr. Atul Chauhan - Chancellor, Amity University, Uttar Pradesh, declared the convocation open, and said: 'Ms Brand’s degree was awarded at the University’s graduation ceremony which was attended by over 4,352 successfully qualified graduates of several programmes enrolled in 13 institutions from Noida and Lucknow. It was a great opportunity for us all to share in each other’s success and celebrate our achievements too.'
