ACCA projects and publications
ACCA has both undertaken and is planning a series of projects embracing the issues arising from climate change. Some projects have been completed, others will be completed and published throughout 2009.
- Carbon Jigsaw Briefings
- The Carbon Jigsaw is a new Web-based initiative to provide ACCA members with the tools to enable them to assess these new risks and opportunities. It aims to keep ACCA members updated on the key issues in the field of climate change and the low-carbon economy. ACCA has worked with several well-established partners in the relevant field to develop content for the Carbon Jigsaw, and material will be added regularly.
- COP 15
- The Conference of Parties (COP) is the highest body of the United Nations Climate Change Convention and consists of environment ministers who meet once a year to discuss the convention's developments. This year's conference will last two weeks from 30 November to 11 December 2009. The overall goal for the 2009 (COP15) United Nations Climate Change Conference hosted by Denmark is to establish an ambitious global climate agreement for the period from 2012. ACCA are currently devising its response to COP15.
- Carbon Accountancy Futures
- ACCA has developed a number of 'accountancy futures' themes, which will attract significant investment, encourage external partnering with relevant organisations, and produce work of originality and impact in members' lives and careers. The first four that have been chosen are: Access to finance, Carbon Accounting, Futures for audit and Narrative reporting. The Carbon Accounting accountancy futures projects are under development, but will encompass issues such as the development of a GHG emissions standard, emissions trading, accounting for the green collar economy, and business models beyond carbon.
- Climate change briefing papers
- A series of briefing papers will be published aimed at corporate & public sector ACCA members and practitioners helping clients. Each paper will focus on a specific issue of corporate carbon management. The project will involve multi-partners and be published over a period of about 6 months from Q3.
