The CPD process

The CPD process involves:

  • setting your CPD objectives
  • choosing your CPD activities and
  • evaluating your CPD activity

Once you have undergone this process, you should make your annual CPD declaration and retain evidence of your CPD. It is important to gain as much value as possible from your CPD. To support you in thinking about the knowledge and skills you could develop, it's useful to use the 'CPD learning cycle'.

Approaching your CPD methodically will ensure that the activity you undertake is relevant to your professional circumstances and derives the most value.  The CPD learning cycle is simple and straight forward. The links below take you through the learning cycle step by step and offer practical advise to help you think about maintaining or developing your knowledge and skills.
