Practical experience route

If you follow the practical experience route to becoming a Certified Accounting Technician, you must be able to demonstrate competence in a wide range of technical, management and personal skills. These will enable you to support professional accounting staff in a range of business fields. ACCA's accounting technician examinations will provide you with the knowledge and understanding which underpins competent performance in the workplace.

You can use any experience gained in any accounting or related role, provided that it contributes to the achievement of the CAT minimum competence requirements and your supervisor can verify it. Your experience may be gained in any business sector or a combination of sectors (for example, public practice, industry, commerce or public sector).

Relevant experience gained prior to registering with ACCA can also be accepted provided it can be verified.
