ACCA has recently undertaken an online survey of students and holders of the Diploma in Financial Management qualification. The aim of the survey was to find out information about DipFM holders and students, including their employment details, why they chose to do the qualification, and how they rate the services offered by ACCA.
Of the respondents, over 61% were students with the remainder being diploma holders. The survey showed that students and holders work in a mixture of sectors. The majority work in corporate, financial services or the public sector, and a large majority work in organisations with over 500 staff. It seems that the DipFM has a lot of support from these employers, with nearly 95% of respondents indicating that their employers were aware of their studies. In addition, over 65% indicated that they were funded by their employers.
We wanted to find out how you found out about the Diploma in Financial Management and what prompted you to start the qualification. For many, the ACCA website was the main point of contact to find out information about the qualification. However, colleagues and managers also proved to be good sources of information about the qualification, as did other diploma students. Students and holders also found out about the qualification from talking to ACCA staff at careers exhibitions. For many respondents, taking the Diploma in Financial Management was a way of furthering their career, with 63% giving career progression as the main reason for choosing the qualification. Other respondents indicated that they chose the qualification after identifying their training needs, or because of a personal interest in the subject.
The survey also asked you about your opinion of the quality of service supplied by ACCA. Of the respondents, 70% considered that the ACCA website was excellent or good, and 86% considered finance matters a useful source of information. In general, our global customer service centre ACCA Connect was considered by students and holders to be average, good or excellent. However, over 40% of respondents had not used the service.
