ACCA, Tsinghua University, and Oxford Brookes University have signed a letter of intent which aims to boost accountancy training for young finance professionals in the world's largest economy. The signing, which took place in Hong Kong, means that Tsinghua - widely-recognised as China's leading university - will develop a foundation programme, based on ACCA's syllabus, which will enable young accounting students to join the ACCA Professional Scheme at a higher level. Tsinghua will also recognise the Oxford Brookes University BSc degree in Applied Accounting, which has been successfully developed in conjunction with ACCA. Students who successfully complete Parts 1 and 2 of the Professional Scheme and pass a Research and Analysis Project are eligible for the Oxford Brookes degree. Allen Blewitt, ACCA chief executive, said: 'This is a landmark in the continuing growth of ACCA. The tripartite agreement with Tsinghua and Oxford Brookes University delivers benefits to Chinese students and underpins ACCA's role in delivering qualified accountants across the world's most vibrant economies.' Professor Cui Guowen, director of the Centre for Overseas Academic and Cultural Accountants (COACE), Tsinghua University, said: 'This agreement aims to provide a comprehensive training programme to the young Chinese students who plan to work in the accounting - especially international accounting - area. It provides an excellent chance for more accounting professionals to seek opportunities in an open Chinese market.' |
