AN ACCA NORTH WALES NETWORK EVENT IN ASSOCIATION WITH AAT
Joint event with West Cheshire & North Wales Chamber of Commerce
Access to finance continues to dominate the headlines and with 2014 being hailed as a year of growth finding appropriate funding will become a bigger challenge for many businesses.
Business owners feel that banks are no longer supporting them and taking little interest in assisting with growth and the government has launched a number of schemes in its attempt to boost finance.
In this session we take a look at the issue of access to finance: what banks are looking for; the reasons why banks say no and the actions business owners need to take in order to improve their chances of getting that elusive ‘yes’.
The emerging funding gap left by the banks has allowed new players to enter the market and during the second half the session we will be looking at the growing range of alternative sources of finance. In particular we will be exploring how crowdfunding and peer-to-peer lending is fast becoming a credible alternative source of finance for businesses.
After spending 25 years in banking with Barclays in South Wales and in various senior positions within banks in Africa, Rob now runs Business Loan Services. Using his extensive banking knowledge he now focuses on helping businesses access growth finance and assisting business owners who have a troubled relationship with their bank.
Rob is also a speaker, seminar and workshop host on the topic of raising finance and dealing with banks. He regularly presents for the LEAD Wales programme, Cardiff Business School and Business Wales on business finance related issues. He is the author of ‘Loan Sharp: Get the Business Finance You Deserve’ which provides an insider’s view and guidance on what banks are looking for.
