What is treasury?

Treasury and accountancy as professions go hand-in-hand. While accountancy keeps all financial transactions in order, treasurers are strategic, financial managers dealing with the liquidity of a business and their decisions directly impact the profit, loss and financial health of a company.

Treasury gets cash into the right place, looks at financial risks and allows you to influence and engage in broader business strategy and decision-making.

Why is treasury relevant to me?

Many of the most successful directors of finance are dual qualified. Your accountancy background has already given you some of the skills and attributes needed to perform treasury functions and if you want to complement your ability to measure money with finance skills such as sourcing, making and managing money, then adding treasury to your skill set could be for you. By adding to your skill set you give yourself the best chance of reaching new career heights.

Why a career in treasury?

Treasury are for those who want to be part of broader business strategy and who want to be making decisions that affect its financial success.
Since the 2008 financial crisis, treasury is a role that is more respected and relied upon to make the most of all available money and resources, manage financial risk and create competitive advantage.

With its increasing profile and in-demand skillset, getting dual-qualified with a treasury qualification can enhance your earning potential and open up doors to global opportunities.

Where can I find out more?
