BUSINESS LECTURE
The Croydon and North West Kent networks joined together for a business lecture, The Bestway Story, at the Selsdon Park Hotel and Golf Club, on 9 June 2005. Two family members from the Bestway Group described how, in only 25 years, Bestway has rocketed from a specialist ethnic food shop to being one of the UK’s top ten privately owned companies. Bestway employs over 2600 people and two years ago, on their 25th anniversary, the Group turnover exceeded the £1bn mark. Their brave strategy and unique trading style, in the early days, changed the face of the wholesale sector. Since then they have pushed forward traditional industry boundaries and diversified into new markets, but the group still sees its core business as the wholesale sector. Christopher Forster was the guest of honour. The 54 delegates enjoyed a finger buffet following the presentations.
