ACCA research

As the leading international accountancy body, ACCA operates in a challenging environment: global, continually evolving and increasingly competitive. Augmenting ACCA's strong position in a worldwide market is ACCA's well-respected research programme, generating high-profile, high-quality, cutting-edge research with global focus, wide dissemination and strong emphasis on public policy influence and practical value.

ACCA has carried out extensive research into sustainability issues. There are currently 16 ACCA reports available on the website, covering a range of topics, including: corporate accountability, ethical accounting and sustainability assurance. To view the full list of sustainability reports, visit the See Also section on this page.

As well as commissioning external research, ACCA also carries out its own bespoke work on relevant topics. For example, a project was carried out by ACCA Australia and New Zealand in collaboration with Net Balance Foundation Limited to examine the level and quality of disclosures on stakeholder engagement and climate change efforts from the 50 largest publicly listed Australian corporates.

In addition, the UK Sustainability Reporting Awards 2006 had an additional theme of climate change. In partnership with FTSE Group, an analysis was carried was carried out on a selection of high and medium impact entrant companies to ascertain the performance of climate change disclosures in areas such as policy and strategy, management and transformational initiatives. Using the results of this research, detailed recommendations have been made for future reporting in this area, which are applicable to any organisations wishing to disclose their performance in climate change.
