ACCA Africa launches inaugural CFO Awards 2022

ACCA has today, Friday 27 May 2022, launched the inaugural ACCA Africa Chief Financial Officer (CFO) Awards themed 'CFOs leading recovery, growth and sustainability'.

The awards will recognise, celebrate and showcase CFOs who have contributed to the advancement of their organisation and the accountancy profession during a virtual event that is to be held in August 2022.

The objectives of the ACCA Africa CFO Awards is to recognise outstanding performance, raise the profile of this strategic role, highlight the essential role that CFOs and the finance functions play within organisations, showcase the good finance practices that help build resilient businesses and inspire the upcoming finance, business leaders and CEOs.

While launching this initiative, Jamil Ampomah, Director for ACCA Africa said: 'These awards will also enhance our brand across the Africa region, provide a platform for developing talent and give members value through profiling and employability opportunities.'

The launch of the awards doubles as a call for nominations for eligible contenders of the different categories that are available.

The nomination window opens Friday, 27 May 2022 at 12:01am and closes on 24 June 2022 at 11:59pm via the link; https://www.accaglobal.com/africa/en/member/member-networks/cfo-awards.html

There are six categories to be nominated for and the details are available in the link. They are:

·         Micro, Small and Medium Enterprise (SME) award

·         Public sector award

·         Young CFO award - which recognizes a CFO 35years and below

·         Financial services sector award

·         Environment, Social and Governance (ESG) award

·         CFO of the Year award

The nominee should be:

  • An ACCA member in good standing (up to date with their membership status).
  • A head of the finance function for at least three years (the job title may vary from CFO, Finance Director, Head of Finance or other)
  • Self-nomination is allowed.

After the nomination exercise, an esteemed panel of judges will review and evaluate all nominations after which winners will be announced at the awards ceremony.
