ACCA's Market Transparency Action Plan
The Competition and Markets Authority market study into legal services has recommended that frontline regulators should develop action plans to help consumers by increasing transparency in the legal services market.
ACCA's Market Transparency Action Plan was published on 31 May 2018. It sets out the actions that we currently undertake and those that we plan to implement, both initially and over the longer term, to enable our regulated firms to deliver the market transparency requirements.
Our plan has been assessed by the Legal Services Board (LSB) as sufficient. However, the LSB highlighted some issues and we are seeking feedback on these specific points as part of an external consultation.
ACCA launched a consultation on the plan and sought feedback from those involved with the provision of legal services. We were keen to hear from other practising firms and other interested parties.
The consultation document, including the plan and consultation questions, is available in the related downloads section of this page.
Responses to the Consultation
We received no responses to the public consultation from individuals and firms authorised for probate activities by ACCA or other members in practice in the UK.
ACCA will now seek to implement the actions set out in the plan, to enable our regulated firms to deliver the market transparency requirements.
