A message from Alan Hatfield, ACCA executive director – Strategy and Development

To say we’re living in difficult times is an understatement. Over recent weeks we’ve heard both concerns and hopes from our students, members, employers, learning providers and our other partners.

We know this is a particularly difficult time for many of our students who are unsure of their next steps.

Our key priority is to ensure and support your health and safety and we’re closely following government and official guidelines. We know that you’d like clarity to help you progress through the ACCA exams. 

We’ve been urgently reviewing the viability of running the June exam sittings. We’ve decided to cancel them in a number of countries around the world, and in other countries where circumstances indicate this will be possible, we’ve taken the decision to move the exams to dates in early July.

Where exams are cancelled, we have issued you with a credit for the exams you’ve already entered so you can rebook for a future exam session. We have frozen our exam entry prices for the September session. Please see our FAQs (links above) for more information.

We know that many exam centres across our regions will be closed for some time, so we have been urgently pursuing options that would enable us to offer some exams under the restrictions we’re experiencing.

As a result, we’re delighted to announce that we’re taking steps to ensure that ACCA students will be able to take their exams at home or in another location in circumstances where centre-based exam sittings are disrupted.

The introduction of a robust and secure way of using the latest technology to enable ‘remote invigilation’ of ACCA Qualification exams will give our students reassurance that they can continue their exam journey in the face of Covid-19 disruption.

We recognise the disruption and frustration the pandemic and resulting exam cancellations have caused for our students and their desire to progress, and this development will ensure their opportunity to do so.

Please find further details here on our plans to enable this for our on-demand exams (Applied Knowledge and Foundation level exams) and session-based Applied Skills exams. We’re still exploring the situation for our Strategic Professional exams and we’ll provide updates soon.

Your safety and wellbeing is paramount to us and we want to do the right thing for you wherever you are in the world. 

We know for some students it is difficult to stay motivated in these challenging times, but time spent studying now will help you whenever the exam session is and we have plenty of resources to support you.
