As the September exams approach we’re continuing to closely monitor the impact of the global pandemic in different locations around the world to work out how we can best ensure our students can take their exams and continue on their ACCA journey.

In many parts of the world we’re planning for centre-based exams to go ahead and are working with local government bodies to follow guidelines and advice to enable this. Health and safety remains our top priority and we’re working with our partners and following best practice to make our centres and exams safe.

But in a number of places where it’s become clear this will not be possible due to the pandemic, we’ve made the decision to cancel September centre-based exams and to offer our students the opportunity to take some of their exams through remote invigilation.

The affected locations are:

  • Afghanistan
  • Armenia
  • Australia
  • Brazil
  • Ethiopia
  • Ghana
  • Guernsey
  • India
  • Kazakhstan
  • Kenya
  • Kuwait
  • Nepal
  • Oman
  • Pakistan
  • South Africa
  • USA
  • Uganda
  • Uzbekistan.

The decision to cancel these exam centre sittings has been based on discussions with our exam delivery partners and advice from the relevant governments.

We’re planning to hold exams in exam centres in all other locations. We will continue to monitor the situation to ensure the health and safety of our students. We’ll advise of any further changes as soon as we can.

About remote invigilation

We’ve worked hard over recent months to develop solutions that will allow students to progress in these difficult circumstances, and have therefore introduced remote invigilation as a contingency which can be used where we’re not able to offer centre-based exams.

Only students who have entered for centre-based exams before the standard entry deadline will have the opportunity to take their exams remotely for the September 2020 session. Students will need the necessary technology, equipment and exam environment to sit these exams.

We have contacted students by email to advise that we will be cancelling their centre exam booking and have credited their myACCA account with exam fees. We’ve also provided information on how to book a remote exam in September, should they wish to do so.

For those who are unable to sit the September exams remotely, the next opportunity to take centre-based exams will be during the December 2020 exam session.

There is a wealth of material and support for students to keep on track, which can be accessed via our Covid-19 hub. We wish all our students and those supporting them well in these challenging times.
