Following the calling of a General Election for 12 December 2019, ACCA chief executive Helen Brand OBE, said:
‘Calling a general election is a sensible option, given the government currently has no working majority. It has indeed contributed to the current political impasse in Westminster.
‘Since the referendum vote in 2016 - Britain has been facing unprecedented challenges and opportunities – which will continue over the coming months and years.
This general election will at least allow the government, however it is formed, to take stock, review existing structures and strategies, and prepare a long-term plan to benefit the UK economy and business.
‘As a non-party political organisation, ACCA will be publishing its manifesto in due course and will work cross-party to set out what it sees as areas of priority for the next Government.
‘We hope this election provides the clarity business so desperately needs.’
