Financial services expert Ernest Wong has been elected to the global governing Council of one of the world’s leading accountancy professional bodies.

Ernest, who was chairman of ACCA Hong Kong last year, was chosen by fellow members around the world to serve on the Council of ACCA (the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants).

He will represent 233,000 members and 536,000 future members based in 178 countries, promoting ACCA as a force for public good, and promoting sustainable economic growth as well as the values of integrity and ethical behaviour.

Ernest is the current president and group chief financial officer of KVB Holdings Limited in Hong Kong. He has about 30 years of experience in venture capital, corporate finance, business development and general management.

He has been the executive director, chief financial officer, company secretary, non-executive director, independent non-executive director and audit committee chairman of several listed companies in Hong Kong and London stock exchange.

Ernest is a Fellow of ACCA (FCCA) and has an array of master’s degrees, including one in management from the Said Business School at the University of Oxford, one in investment from the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST), electronic engineering from the Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) and a Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) from Hong Kong University.

His previous service with ACCA, which he joined in 1994, also includes being a member of the Accountants for Business global forum between 2017-2020 and an International Assembly representative in 2020-2021.

In addition to service with ACCA, he is also the Court member of the University of Hong Kong, and formerly the Deputy Chairman of the HKU Convocation, the President of the Hong Kong University Graduates Association and the board director of CFA Hong Kong.
