2021 ACCA Community Day’s virtual rickshaw run to raise donations for local charitable projects
ACCA (the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants) Hong Kong is excited to launch this year’s ACCA Community Day as a virtual running event due to the health and safety concerns caused by the continued Covid-19 pandemic.
Since 1997, ACCA has been organising this flagship event annually to help the needy in local community. Through the exciting rickshaw competition participated by accountancy firms, multinational companies, corporations and institutions, we have raised over HK$21 million since the inception of the event, which helped realise many meaningful projects of charitable organisations, and fostered cohesion between financial industries and the community.
Themed ‘Rickshaw run around the world in 18 days’, a virtual running event will be held where participants can run anytime and anywhere between 16 December 2021 and 2 January 2022 (18 days). The format of this year’s event will transition from team racing to collaboration. The cumulative distance achieved by all participants will contribute to ONE goal – to go around the world in 18 days, and with charitable causes.
Jennifer Tan, Chairman of ACCA Hong Kong said, ‘Over the past two years, we’ve all learnt to adapt quickly to the pandemic world. As the leading global professional body, ACCA’s commitment to safeguarding our members’ global competitiveness and employability only grows stronger amidst these difficult times. While our commitment is not limited to our members and the profession, we also put our community’s needs at the heart of our collective efforts at ACCA. Our social responsibility has become even more critical in a post-pandemic era, contributing to sustainable development and a better future for all.’
Jennifer added, ‘We are very proud to unite with our network of members, future members, employer partners and stakeholders, and dedicate ourselves to helping our community via this year’s ACCA Community Day with a virtual running event. Through this meaningful initiative, we very much hope that we can all lead a healthy and sustainable lifestyle amid today’s global health crisis. By driving for the same goal, we can certainly go a longer way together!’
The proceeds raised this year will go towards the programmes targeting various disadvantaged segments in our community organised by three beneficiary organisations: (1) Healthy Hong Kong Limited; (2) Project Concern Hong Kong; and (3) Hong Kong Society for the Blind.
We are tremendously thankful for the generosity and unfailing support of our Corporate Sponsors, Co-sponsors, and Participating Corporates / Institutes:
