After rounds of competition, students from The Chinese University of Hong Kong (Infinity) won the championship. The champion team’s business proposal is about facilitating educational equality and creating cross-cultural learning for the underprivileged students. Students from The Chinese University of Hong Kong (Quad 7) were awarded the 1st runner up, and their proposal aims to offer opportunities for young and new artists. Students from The University of Hong Kong (EdMotion) were awarded 2nd runner up. Their idea is about promoting social harmony through supporting ethnic minorities in the community.

This is the eighth year for ACCA to partner with Social Enterprise Business Centre (SEBC). At ACCA, our vision is to develop the accountancy profession the world needs – and having an open and inclusive profession is integral to this vision. We believe inclusion is essential for the wellbeing of society. Businesses and organisations that embrace inclusion are more successful and sustainable. On the day of the Final Competition, the eight finalist teams presented their business proposals with innovative ideas on driving sustainable business and a better world, to the panel of judges comprising finance leaders and social enterprise expert.

‘ACCA Hong Kong Business Competition always aims to encourage participants to equip themselves with a social conscious mindset and a blend of business skills. We hope to encourage students to pay attention to what is happening around the local community, and form their own perspectives on how to create a win-win business to contribute to the society.

We have arranged the precious opportunity for the top teams to engage with our ACCA fellow members as their coaches, where they will get valuable professional guidance from business elites with real-life cases,’ said Ernest Wong, Chairman of ACCA Hong Kong.

Ernest added, ‘To encourage students to equip themselves with a blend of skills and qualities required for the future world, ACCA’s 7 Professional Quotients (7Q) were used to evaluate the students’ performance. We have awards stemmed from the ACCA’s 7Q model, such as Creative Excellence Award, Research Excellence Award, Digital Excellence Award and Team Excellence Award, to encourage students to be aware of these qualities needed by the future business world.’

Ernest continued, ‘We will continue our strong commitment in nurturing the next generation to thrive in the new normal. Let’s think ahead together and drive a better world!’
